Point your camera at a plant and Roots to Roux tells you what it looks like,
what it could be confused with, and what to check — for the yard, the ditch and the woods
behind the house.
2See what it could be — and its dangerous look-alikes.
3Check before you touch or use anything.
It will never tell you something is safe to eat.
That is the whole design, not a disclaimer at the bottom. A wrong "safe" call is the one
mistake out here that can kill somebody, so the app does not make that call at all.
Deciding what to do with a plant stays where it belongs: with the person holding it.
What it will not do
Give you one verdict. You get ranked candidates, and you rule out the dangerous look-alikes before it shows anything about use.
Take a stranger's word. Community pins carry hazards and locations — never "edible."
Replace an expert. It is an educational field guide, not expert identification or medical advice.
Make you sign up. Identifying and the safety checks work with no account.
In a poisoning emergency, call Poison Control: 1-800-222-1222. Never eat, prepare or
use any wild plant unless you are completely certain of what it is.
